And, it only applies from the eighth day of lockdown. That is, there is nothing you can claim for the first week of a lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The payment amount depends on how many hours of work you have lost in the lockdown period (week).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"390\" height=\"215\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/KSM-0721COVID.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/KSM-0721COVID.png 390w, https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/KSM-0721COVID-300x165.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 390px) 85vw, 390px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications for the disaster payment need to be made weekly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"892\" height=\"129\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095347.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-553\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095347.png 892w, https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095347-300x43.png 300w, https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095347-768x111.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The payment is available if you are not earning an income or have lost work and you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or temporary visa holder who has the right to work in Australia, and<\/li><li>Are aged 17 years or over, and<\/li><li>Can\u2019t attend work and lost income on or after day 8 of a COVID-19 lockdown, and<\/li><li>Don\u2019t have access to appropriate paid leave entitlements through your employer (other than annual leave), and<\/li><li>Are not getting an income support payment, a state or territory pandemic payment, Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment or state small business payment for the same period.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Until recently, a liquid assets test applied that meant that if you had more than $10,000, you could not receive the payment. However, the Prime Minster has stated that this test will be lifted from Thursday, 8 July 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Victoria\u2019s lockdown, 75,410 claims were made for the disaster payment, 57,730 were granted. In NSW, over 67,000 residents have applied for the payment to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">The disaster payment is only accessible if the hotspot triggering the lockdown lasts more than 7 days as declared by the Chief Medical Officer (you can find the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.servicesaustralia.gov.au\/individuals\/services\/centrelink\/covid-19-disaster-payment\/who-can-get-it\">listing here<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment of $1,500 for each 14 day period is for those who have been advised by the health authorities to self-isolate or quarantine because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You have coronavirus (COVID-19)<\/li><li>You\u2019ve been in close contact with a person who has COVID-19<\/li><li>You care for a child, 16 years or under, who has COVID-19<\/li><li>You care for a child, 16 years or under, who\u2019s been in close contact with a person who has COVID-19.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The payment might also be accessible if you are a carer for someone impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligibility for the pandemic payment is very similar to the COVID-19 payment except that you need to use your annual leave if it is available to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#8ab800\">Support for business<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New South Wales<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSW Government has announced new grants of up to $10,000 for businesses adversely impacted by the recent COVID-19 lockdowns. Eligibility for the grant is streamed into general business, and hospitality and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The value of the grant is determined by the impact of the lockdown on your turnover. Your business will need to prove a decline in turnover across a minimum 2 week period after the commencement of the major restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"896\" height=\"156\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095458.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-554\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095458.png 896w, https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095458-300x52.png 300w, https:\/\/www.trakaccountants.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/WeChat-Screenshot_20210713095458-768x134.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The grant is limited to businesses (including sole traders) with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A NSW registered ABN or able to demonstrate they are physically located and primarily operating in NSW; and<\/li><li>Turnover of more than $75,000 pa; but<\/li><li>Below the NSW Government 2020-21 payroll tax threshold of $1.2m as at 1 July 2020; with<\/li><li>Fewer than 20 full time equivalent employees<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hospitality &amp; Tourism COVID-19 Support grant is limited to tourism or hospitality businesses with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A NSW registered ABN or able to demonstrate they are physically located and primarily operating in NSW; and<\/li><li>Turnover of more than $75,000 pa; and<\/li><li>An annual Australian wages bill below $10m as at 1 July 2020.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.service.nsw.gov.au\/transaction\/apply-covid-19-business-support-grant\">Applications for the grant<\/a>&nbsp;open in late July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Northern Territory<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Territory Business Lockdown Payment Program provides a payment of $1,000 to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/businessrecovery.nt.gov.au\/terms-and-conditions\">eligible<\/a>&nbsp;Territory enterprises with less than 20 full time equivalent staff. &nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businessnt.smartygrants.com.au\/lockdownpayment\">Applications<\/a>&nbsp;close on 16 July 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Queensland<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A Small Business COVID-19&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.business.qld.gov.au\/starting-business\/advice-support\/grants\/adaption\">Adaption Grant<\/a>&nbsp;of between $2,000 and $10,000 is available to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.business.qld.gov.au\/starting-business\/advice-support\/grants\/adaption#eligibility\">eligible<\/a>&nbsp;regional Queensland businesses. The grant requires your business to have suffered a decline in turnover of at least 30% because of COVID for at least one month since 23 March 2020. The grant is accessible to businesses with less than 20 full time equivalent staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Victoria<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Grants and other business support programs are available targeting specific industries such as live events, hospitality, and the employment of priority jobseekers. See&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/business.vic.gov.au\/grants-and-programs\">Business Victoria<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Western Australia<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A second round of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au\/lockdown-assistance\">Small Business Lockdown Assistance Grants<\/a>&nbsp;of $3,000 are available to eligible businesses in Perth, Peel and regional WA impacted by recent lockdowns. Applications are not yet open but you can register for updates. Specific&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wa.gov.au\/organisation\/department-of-the-premier-and-cabinet\/covid-19-coronavirus-support-business\">industry assistance<\/a>&nbsp;is also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Direct grants and funding to South Australian and ACT businesses are applicable when extended lock-downs are imposed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The highly infectious Delta COVID variant is triggering lock-downs across the country.
